Busy long weekend and Giveaway!

This weekend was a greatly busy and productive weekend. It started off with a great plant sale at the local plant store, which meant that we spent a lot of time gardening! We also had the urge to sand out patio and restain it. Lots of dust and sweat where involved.

We hurried along with a really fun hike leading to a great view that brought us back home to do some meal planning and cooking for the week.

Fiou! Busy, busy, busy! And sticky and dirty… which was actually a great excuse to test out Oneka‘s goldenseal and citrus body wash.  Now, you know I love Oneka shampoos. They are incredible! They make my hair soft and shiny, and they smell amazing. It also gave me an excuse to go visit my friend’s café in the very cute Frelighsburg village and to revisit the Oneka store. It’s so nice and beautifully decorated with wooden furniture and panels. Plus, I got to meet with Philippe and Stacy, the owners and founders of Oneka, and take a few pictures. How Fun!

See? Oneka products make people happy! Thank you Philippe and Stacy for your generosity and for creating such amazing products!

The body wash has the same fresh and fruity scent as the goldenseal and citrus shampoo. It felt really great after long days outside playing in the dirt or in dust. This body wash also leaves your skin feeling soft, clean and so wonderfully scented. It’s like having a trip inside the most incredible orange… not in a weird way! I love the fact that this body product is cruelty-free, made with local plants and is completely biodegradable. It’s also great because you can refill the bottles in many stores around Montreal. Great! Plus, it’s always a good idea and fun to support local entrepreneurs. Anyways, when I visited Oneka, they were kind enough to give me two bottles of this wonderful body wash: one for me, and one for one of you! If you want to participate in this giveaway, here is what you have to do:

  1. Like my facebook page;
  2. Follow me on Instagram;
  3. Comment bellow and tell me what’s your favourite outdoors activity;
  4. Live in Canada or in the U.S..

I’ll randomly choose the winner for this next Monday and contact them through a private message (make sure you can be reached) to send them this wonderful shower product. Good luck to everyone!

Life Update + Giveaway Winner

We moved! For the first time ever in my life, we’ll be living in a house. So far, I’ve lived in six different apartments, so it’s exciting to have a little house. It’s so nice to have a little garden where we’ll be able to set up a vegetable patch, grow some flowers and add a birth bath and feeder. It’s also amazing to be able to have breakfast outside. It’s so peaceful and relaxing, it’s the perfect way to start the day. I feel really lucky to have this new space to play with and enjoy.

moving-cat

I’m a sad cat, living in a sad box. She stayed in that box the entire time we were packing up.

The move is even more exciting because we left the city! That’s right, we are not in Montreal anymore, but in a small, small town. Everything is so cute and unfamiliar. It’s a great feeling to have new places to discover; it’s like a holiday. Plus, our new home is set in the most wonderful place if you like being outside: bike and hiking trails are just around the corner, and we have a ski station literally in our backyard. It’s really nice because when we go outside, we can see people running, biking or just walking around. It’s such a nice quiet small town. The feel is so different from the big city, but I think I’ll get used to it pretty easily. That is if I don’t break down from unpacking everything! I’m so tired of lifting and moving boxes around. The temperatures are really not helping: it’s so hot and humid, even just sitting down seems like an effort.

Why are you doing this to me? In a far away kingdom, lived a cat that spent its time perched on the highest of all boxes…

Our cat is going crazy! She is exploring every little nook and cranny and wondering what she’s doing there. She’s also quite excited to see all the birds and insects that are going back and forth in the yard. She’s not too happy to see the boxes disappear, but we truly are!

Okay, life not’s so bad here!

Protein-Packed Chocolate Fudge & Giveaway!

A few weeks ago, I contacted Manitoba Harvest to know if they would be interested in organizing a giveaway with me, and they were! I have to say I have been a fan of their hemp hearts for a while. These little seeds are packed with protein and have a very mild flavour. This means you can pretty much add them to everything! Mix them up with some nuts and you have a wonderful pie crust, add them to your smoothies for an extra kick, or sprinkle them on salads and soups. I also add them to my overnight oats to add protein. Yum!

I really love this particular brand of hemps seeds because they are Canadian, always super fresh and particularly tender. This makes the seeds very easy to add to any dish that I might be making.

hemp-fudge2

Today, I wanted to create something that was really hemp seed central. If you like fudge, this is the recipe for you! It’s super creamy, rich and chocolaty, without the guilt. It also takes 5 minutes to prepare. What else is there to ask for? Receiving a free bag of hemp hearts perhaps? I got you covered. Read on to find out how you can win one!

Here is what you need:

  • 1/2 cup hemp hearts
  • 1/4 cup icing sugar (I used coconut sugar that I processed)
  • 1/4 cup raw cocoa powder
  • 2 tbs coconut oil

Here is what you do:

  1. In your food processor, process the hemp seeds with the sugar and coconut oil until you have a thick butter consistency. Scrape down the sides often to make sure everything is smooth. This should take about 2 minutes.
  2. Add in the cocoa powder and process until completely incorporated. The consistency should be thick.
  3. With clean hands, roll 1 tsp of the dough at a time to form fudge balls. You can also spread the dough in a pan and make fudge squares if you prefer. Keep in the fridge in an air-tight container, and try not to eat them all at once! Enjoy!

This is seriously easy while being seriously delicious! And nutritious too! Hemp hearts are packed with protein, healthy omegas and a good source of many essential minerals. Seriously, these little things are incredible! You should check them out and add them your pantry essentials.

Now for the serious stuff! If you want to win your own bag of hemp hearts and make these delicious fudge balls, here is what you need to do:

  2. Make sure your address is not a P.O. box.
  3. Like my Facebook page and follow my blog.
  4. Comment below what you would do with these hemp hearts or what is your go-to recipe if you already love hemp hearts.

I will pick the winner next Thursday and announce it on Facebook, so make sure you check that out! I will also send an email to the winner, so make sure I can reach you. I’m really excited by this as it is the first giveaway I’m organizing, and the prize is so fun! So participate, and eat your hemp seeds!
